Buying

How do I contact a seller?

Open the ad and choose Chat, WhatsApp or Call. Chat on Roda needs a free account and keeps your conversation in Messages.

Can I save ads to look at later?

Yes. Log in and tap the heart on an ad. Saved ads are listed under Saved, and ads you opened are under Recently viewed.

Does Roda inspect the vehicles?

No. Roda reviews ads before they go live, but doesn't inspect vehicles or check their papers. Details such as "No major accident (seller says)" come from the seller. Check the vehicle and documents yourself before you pay.

What does Recond mean?

Recond (reconditioned) vehicles are used imports, sold in Malaysia for the first time. Ask the seller where it was imported from and for the auction report.

Should I buy from a dealer or a private owner?

Both sell on Roda. Business sellers show a business badge after Roda checks their details. Private owners sell their own vehicle.

Why can't buyers see my ad yet?

Roda reviews every new ad before it goes live. Until then it shows as Waiting for review in My ads.

Why was my ad not approved?

Common reasons: wrong category; price is not real; photos are not of this item; duplicate ad; prohibited item; missing details; loan takeover (sambung bayar) without bank approval; phone, link or contact details in the ad text; looks like a scam; title in capital letters; photos too small or blurry; reported by buyers. Fix the details in My ads and save; Roda reviews the ad again.

How do I mark my vehicle as sold?

Go to My ads and choose Mark as sold on the ad.

Can I sell a car that is still under loan?

Yes, if the loan is settled at transfer: the buyer's payment clears the bank loan, then ownership moves to the buyer. Ads offering a loan takeover (sambung bayar) are not approved.

Selling tips

Dealers and business accounts

Who can open a business account?

Dealers, workshops, traders, showrooms and other businesses registered with SSM. Authorised brand dealers with a franchise or brand letter can join as official dealers.

What does a business account add?

Your company name on every ad, a business page with all your ads, sales team invites so staff post under your company, and services ads (workshops, tyre shops, towing, car wash).

How does business verification work?

Roda checks your business details before services and the business badge go live. Until then you can post car and motorcycle ads and buyers see you as an individual seller. Adding your SSM registration speeds up the check.

Can I switch my individual account to a business account?

Yes. Log in and open a business account. You keep the same login and email.

Should I pay a deposit before seeing the vehicle?

No. Never pay a deposit before you have seen the vehicle in person and checked that the name on the grant matches the seller's IC. Prices far below market and "shipping" stories are common signs of a scam.

WhatsApp scams when buying a car

How does the ownership transfer work?

Ownership changes only when the JPJ transfer is complete. Don't hand over full payment before the vehicle is in your name, and as a seller, don't hand over the vehicle before the transfer.

Can I take over someone's car loan (sambung bayar)?

Not without the bank's approval. Taking over a hire purchase loan without the bank's consent breaks section 38 of the Hire Purchase Act 1967. The vehicle stays in the original owner's name and the bank can still repossess it.

Should I get a PUSPAKOM inspection?

Yes, for a used vehicle. A PUSPAKOM inspection checks the vehicle's identity and roadworthiness, and some transfers require one. Book it before you pay.
